Please note that the recommended hiking times we give relate to the shortest route from the mountain station of the Ehrwalder Alm cable car and are approximate times only.

Follow the road past the Alpenglühn hut to the end of the valley. Continue on the undulating road where you will then be able to choose a footpath left through the woods or continue on the road to the Ganghoferrast/Talblick (mountain bikers so take care) to the Seebenalm. From there it is approx. 30 minutes to the Seebensee. Follow the path on the east side of the lake leading to the end of the valley. The path then serpentines up the hill to the Coburger hut.

Walk to the Pestkapelle and continue either via the road or the Max-Klotz-Steig to the Hochfeldernalm. Continue to the Brandjoch and Feldjöchl, 2.024 m. This is where the paths from Leutasch meet, go to the left via the steep slope, first descending, then steeply upwards through a rocky valley to the Gatterl. Once past the Gatterl follow the trail to Grenzerhüttl where the slope crosses almost horizontally to the Knorr hut.

Walk from the Ehrwalder Alm to the Pestkapelle, then up the Max-Klotz-Steig and past the Hochfeldernalm via the high alpine pastures to the first Joch "Am Brand" (2.120 m). From there it is a slight descent to the Feldjöchl (2.041 m). After the turning for the "Steinernen Hut" head in a north easterly direction and then follow the steep climb to the "Gatterl". On the "Plattsteig" you will reach the Knorr hut via scree and snow fields. Continue over the Zugspitz platt to the Schneefernerhaus and from there in a north easterly direction on a marked and secured path to the Zugspitz peak. Alternatively you can take the Glacier cable car from the Zugspitz platt to the Zugspitz peak and we recommend buying the hiking ticket "Gatterl" if you are planning to take the cable car option.
